Maths Genius 2026 is a national-level online mathematics competition organised by I am Samarth app for students studying in Grades 6th to 10th across Bharat.
The competition is designed to assess and enhance students’ numerical skills, speed, logical thinking, consistency, and learning ability through structured mathematical phases.

2. What is format of Maths Genius 2026 Competition?

The competition is conducted entirely online and consists of:

  • Grades 6th to 8th: Boudhāyana Division – Minimum Numerical Skill (MNS)
  • Grades 9th and 10th: Mahāvīra Division – Minimum Numerical Skill (MNS) and Minimum Learning Ability (MLA-1 and MLA-2)

Minimum Numerical Skill (MNS) and Minimum Learning Ability (MLA-1 & MLA-2) include:

  • Entry Round
  • Qualifier Round 
  • Final Round

Participants must complete each Round in order by achieving at least 90% accuracy in the required number of consecutive attempts. The competition is considered complete only after the final round of that phase’s accuracy requirement is met.

3. Who can participate in Maths Genius 2026?

Students who are currently studying in Grades 6th to 10th are eligible to participate.
Participants may register:

  • Individual Student: An individual student can directly register through individual registration.
  • Institute Student: Registration through the School / Institute, where the school is participating in the Competition.
4. Is there a registration fee, and are any exemptions available?

The registration fee is ₹99 per student.
The exemption is given to students holding an active annual I am Samarth app membership until 5 September 2026.

5. Is the registration fee refundable or transferable?

No.

The registration fee is strictly non-refundable and non-transferable.

Maths Genius 2026 is conducted based on 52 fundamental concepts of Mathematics. These include:

Students who are citizens of Bharat and are currently studying in Grades 6th to 10th are eligible to participate in Maths Genius 2026.

2. I have previously participated in the Maths Genius competition. Can I participate in Maths Genius 2026?

Yes.
Students who participated in previous editions of Maths Genius are eligible to participate in Maths Genius 2026.

3. Do participants from previous Maths Genius Competitions need to pay the registration fee again?

Yes.

Participants from previous Maths Genius competitions are required to pay the registration fee of ₹99 to participate in Maths Genius 2026.There will be no registration fee for students holding an active I am Samarth app annual membership valid through 5 September 2026.

4. Can students still participate in the competition if they miss the registration closure date?

No.

If students have not registered for Maths Genius 2026 before the registration closure, they will not be allowed to participate in the competition.

5. What grades are eligible for different phases under Math Genius 2026?

The eligibility by competition is as follows:

  • Grades 6th to 8th: Boudhāyana Division – Minimum Numerical Skill (MNS)
  • Grades 9th and 10th: Mahāvīra Division – Minimum Numerical Skill (MNS) and Minimum Learning Ability (MLA-1 and MLA-2)

The Institute Admin or the School Admin can register the School for the Maths Genius 2026.

4. Who all need to be registered from the school?

The following registrations are mandatory from the school:

  • Principal of the school
  • All Maths Teachers of the participating grades (Grades 6th to 10th)
  • All students studying in Grades 6th to 10th, based on the school’s available grades
5. Any minimum student participation required for schools?

There is no limit on the number of students a school may register for the competition. However, a school will be eligible for the Kapitthaka Award or Vallabhi Award only if at least 90% of students in each grade’s division are registered for the competition.

6. What happens if the registered teacher, principal, or academic head leaves before start of the competition?

If a registered teacher, principal, or academic head leaves the school or institution before the competition period, the Institute Admin or School Admin must update the user information (with the new teacher, principal, or academic head) on the I am Samarth app.

7. What happens if a registered teacher, principal, or academic head leaves during the competition period?

If a registered teacher, principal, or academic head leaves the school or institution during the competition period, they shall not be eligible for institutional awards or recognition related to Math Genius 2026.

8. What should be done if the academic session changes after registration for the Competition?

If the academic session changes after registration, the school or institute must ensure that all student grade information is updated accurately.

2. What is the process of registration for an individual student?
  • An individual student can register by visiting the official website https://iamsamarth.com/maths-genius-2026/ or download the mobile app and click on Individual sign up.
  • Enter the full name as per Aadhar Card, mobile number, email ID, and date of birth, then create a username and password.
  • An OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number. Verify the OTP to proceed.
  • Make the payment of ₹99 to participate in the Competition.
  • Fill in the required education details.
  • Enter the parents’ details to complete the registration process.
3. Can students register individually or only through their school?

Students may register either individually or through their school.
It is important to note that a student cannot register using both methods.
If a student registers individually, they are ineligible to register through a school or institution afterwards and are not eligible for institutional awards.

4. How will I receive my login credentials for the I am Samarth app?

After successful sign-up on I am Samarth app, the user will receive their login credentials on their registered email and mobile (SMS). Please save your username and password, as these will be required to log in to the I am Samarth app during the competition.

5. How will I know whether the payment has been completed or not?

Yes, once the payment for the competition is completed successfully, a confirmation email will be sent to the registered email ID. This confirms that the payment has been received and that the student is eligible to participate in the competition.
If the payment fails, an email will be sent to the registered email ID to let you know about the failed payment transaction. The user will have the option to login and retry the payment for the competition.

6. I can’t remember my password. What should I do?

You can reset your password using the “Forgot Password” option on the login page. Enter your username, set and confirm a new password, and complete the OTP verification sent to your registered email ID or mobile number. Once verified, your password will be updated, and you can log in to I am Samarth app using the new password.

7. I am not receiving updates for the competition. What should I do?

Updates will be sent to your registered mobile number and email address. If you do not receive them, please check your spam or junk folder. If the issue persists, contact the Maths Genius 2026 support team for assistance.

8. Can the same mobile number be used for multiple registrations?

No.

Each mobile number is unique and must only be used for a single registration.

  • The Institute Admin registers by visiting the official I am Samarth app https://app.iamsamarth.com/#/organization-signup
  • Enter the required details as per the instructions in the Institute registration form.
  • An OTP is sent to the registered mobile number; verify it to proceed further.
  • Log in using the shared credentials (sent to your registered email and mobile number)
  • Add the other roles for the Institute.
  • After that, the school admin can add schools using the Manage School option.

School Registration:

  • After the Institute registration, the Institute Admin adds the school to the dashboard.
  • The Institute Admin then adds the Principal, Vice-Principal, and School Admin.
  • Login credentials are sent to the registered email ID and mobile number of the School Admin.
  • The School Admin can add teachers and students (their necessary information as required).
2. How does the School/Institute dashboard hierarchy work?

The dashboard follows a role-based structure:

Institute → adds Institute Admin
            Institute Admin → adds Chairman / GS / School Admin / Students
                                    School Admin → adds Principal / Vice-Principal / Teachers/ Students

Each role can add and manage only the users below it, ensuring secure and organised registration management.

3. What happens if a student changes school or withdraws during the Competition?

The Institute/ School admin must unlink the student’s name from their dashboard within five (5) calendar days.
If a student switches/leaves schools, they can still take part as an individual participant. They will not be counted in the school’s rankings or eligible for school awards.

4. What should be done if new students join the school before the start of the competition?

If the new students join the school before the Competition begins, the Institute/ School admin must add and register those students on the dashboard, ensure their details are accurate, and complete the registration process within the specified timeline.

5. Can schools edit student details after registration?

Yes.

The Institute/ School admin may add, remove, or edit student details on the dashboard, in accordance with the timelines and procedures prescribed by the organiser.

Math Genius 2026 is conducted entirely online and consists of:

  • Minimum Numerical Skill (MNS) for Grades 6th to 10th

Students in Grades 6th to 8th will compete in MNS, while students in Grades 9th and 10th will compete in MNS, MLA-1 and MLA-2.
MLA will be unlocked only after the successful completion of MNS.

2. What is the detailed structure of Minimum Numerical Skill?

Minimum Numerical Skill consists of three rounds:

  • Entry Stage: 40 questions to be solved in 10 minutes
    On the score of the entry stage, students will be promoted to the respective level.
  • Qualifying Stage: Structured practice tests across categories and levels.
    Students can be promoted to the next category/level/tests only with an accuracy greater than 90%.
  • Final Stage: Contains 40 Questions(each with 3 subquestions).
    Minimum Numerical Skill is considered complete only after successful completion of the Final stage with more than 90% accuracy.
3. What is the detailed structure of Minimum Learning Ability?

This is further classified as:

  • Minimum Learning Ability – 1
  • Minimum Learning Ability – 2

Each challenge includes three rounds:

  • Entry Stage: Checks the student’s understanding through timed questions and assigns the appropriate preparation level for the Qualifier Round.
  • Qualifier Stage: Structured practice worksheets are assigned based on Entry Test results. Students must achieve at least 90% accuracy to progress to the next worksheet.
  • Final Stage: Consists of three consecutive timed tests with 90 mixed-ability questions to evaluate clarity, accuracy, speed, and problem-solving ability.
4. What are the progression and completion requirements?

Progression between stages, categories, levels, and tests depends on meeting the prescribed accuracy (90% or more) and consecutive performance criteria specified in the Competition instructions.
Completion of the Competition requires successful completion of all applicable Final Stage.

5. What are the progression requirements in Math Genius 2026?

Progression in Math Genius 2026 is based on accuracy and consecutive performance at each stage:

  • Students must achieve the minimum required accuracy (generally 90%) in a round or level to move forward.
  • Progression from Entry Stage→ Qualifying Stage→ Final Stage is mandatory in MNS, MLA-1 and MLA-2.
  • In the MNS, students progress through levels and must meet the accuracy criteria in consecutive attempts to advance.
  • Students in Grades 9 and 10 can progress from MNS to MLA-1, and from MLA-1 to MLA-2, only after meeting the prescribed performance criteria at each stage.

All progression rules are displayed on the dashboard and must be followed sequentially.

6. When will the competition be considered as completed for the student?

The Competition is considered complete only when a student has:

  • Successfully completed all applicable Final Stages of the MNS/MLA relevant to their grade, and
  • Met the required accuracy and performance criteria prescribed by the Organiser.

Only students who complete the Competition are eligible for rankings, awards, and certificates.

7. Can any stage be skipped in the MNS/MLA-1/MLA-2?

No.
All stages, levels, and tests must be completed sequentially in MNS, MLA-1, and MLA-2. Skipping any stage is not permitted.

8. How much time do students get for each stage?

Time limits vary by stage and are communicated on the competition dashboard.
For example, the MNS Entry Stage consists of 40 questions, to be completed in 10 minutes.

9. Will the test format remain the same for all stages?

No.

The format varies across Entry, Qualifying, and Final Stages to assess different abilities such as accuracy, speed, consistency, and learning ability.

Students are eligible for awards only after successful completion of the competition, as defined for their grade.

2. How are rankings determined for a student?

For Grades 6th to 8th: Rankings are based on performance in the Final Stage of the Minimum Numerical Skill, considering the highest accuracy, least time taken, and fewest attempts.
For Grades 9th and 10th: Rankings are based on average performance across all Final Stage of MNS, MLA-1 and MLA-2, considering the highest accuracy, least total time, and fewest attempts.

3. Can rankings be challenged or appealed?

No.
The rankings will be final as declared by the organisers based on the defined criteria, without any bias.

4. How will I receive my score and competition report?

Scores and performance details will be made available through the I am Samarth app after evaluation and the declaration of results.

5. Can a participant receive more than one award?

No.
Each participant is eligible to receive only one award, being the highest-level award for which they qualify under the Competition rules.

6. Will all participants receive certificates?

Yes.
All participants of the Competition will receive a digital participation certificate.

7. Are awards guaranteed?

No.

8. Are awards subject to tax?

Eligible students may receive national, state, district, or consolation awards, as given below.
National Level: Boudhãyana Award for National 1st Rank, and Grade-wise award for top three (3) rankers
State Level: Grade-wise awards for the top three (3) rankers in each state and UT of Bharat.
District Level: Grade-wise awards for the top five (5) rankers in each district.
Consolation Awards: Fixed awards for the top ten thousand (10,000) performers completing the competition.

10. How are participating students in Grades 9th to 10th rewarded?

Eligible students may receive national, state, district, or consolation awards, as given below.
National Level: Mahāvīra Award for National 1st Rank, and Grade-wise award for the top three (3) rankers
State Level: Grade-wise awards for the top three (3) rankers in each state and UT of Bharat.
District Level: Grade-wise awards for the top five (5) rankers in each district.

11. What is the eligibility for a state-level award for individually participating students?
  • An individual student is eligible for a state-level award only if:
    • At least 50% of districts in the state participate, and
    • Each participating district has a minimum of 10,000 registered students (Grades 6th–10th).
  • For Union Territories, a minimum of 10,000 registered students is required.
  • The student must also complete the applicable Competition and meet performance criteria.

2. Can a student submit the test and exit before the scheduled time?

Yes.
A student may submit the test and exit at any time before the scheduled duration of the test. Once the test is submitted, it cannot be resumed or reattempted.

3. Is the exam recorded or monitored?

The competition uses automated monitoring and system checks to ensure fair play and rule compliance.

4. What should I do, if there is a technical issue during the exam?

If a student faces a technical issue, they should immediately report it through the official support channels (email, helpline, or WhatsApp), as instructed by the organiser.

5. What happens if there are internet, power, or device issues?

The organiser shall not be responsible for interruptions caused by internet connectivity problems, power failures, device malfunctions, or other technical disruptions at students end.

6. What activities or tools are prohibited during the Competition?

The following are strictly prohibited during the test:

  • Switching between browser tabs or applications
  • Accessing unauthorised websites
  • Using multiple devices or accounts
  • Any form of external assistance, like:
    • Use of calculators, websites, browser extensions, mobile applications, or any similar tools for calculations.
    • Seeking or receiving assistance from parents, friends, guardians, or any other individuals during the Competition.
    • Help from any AI assistance or tool
7. Can students use calculators, AI tools, or external help?

No. The use of calculators, AI tools, unauthorised software, or any external assistance is strictly prohibited.

8. What are the consequences of violating Competition rules?

Any violation of the Competition rules may result in immediate disqualification, along with loss of eligibility for rankings, certificates, and awards.
